Based on a true incident, Murder at Indigo Springs concerns the 1877 murders of an elderly South Carolina brother and sister and the culprit's attempts to frame a black servant, Jeff David, for the crime. Jim Benet, Jeff's lawyer, believes that his client is innocent and works hard to solve the crime, even though his own life is in danger. Given the brutal nature of the court system at the time, Jim must tackle many obstacles and actually put Jeff on the scaffold in order to save him.
